Francis "Frank" Henry Nondorf

Francis “Frank” Henry Nondorf, age 77, of Dyer, IN passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Beloved husband of Donna Nondorf, nee Pearison. Loving father of Amy (Chris) Kinard, Lisa (Tom) Stidham, and Justin (Shelley) Nondorf. Devoted grandfather of Danielle (Will) Fitch, Ryan (fiancee Madison Quinn) Dobkowski, Timothy Stidham, Lindsay Stidham, Lacey Stidham, Raelynne Nondorf and Easton Nondorf, and great-grandfather of Maggie Fitch. Dear brother-in-law of Linda Foster, Nancy Ragin (Rick Matlock), and Janis Grahovac. Uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Best friend of Dwaine Kocon. Preceded in death by his granddaughter Jessica Dobkowski, his parents Henry and Pauline Nondorf, and by his in-laws Harold and Charlotte Pearison who were like a mom and dad to him.

Frank was a quiet, hardworking man who showed his love through actions, kindness, and constant presence. Fun to be around and like a father to many, family and friends could always count on him. After fifty years as an employee and crane operator at Munster Steel, he retired. A lifelong Chicago White Sox fan, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, playing cornhole and horseshoes, watching old movies, and playing rummy.

He cherished his wife of nearly fifty-three years above all and deeply loved his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. He especially treasured time with his grandchildren—playing games, baseball, or simply being together. Known for his gentle nature and generous heart, he will be remembered for his quiet strength, sense of humor, and the love he gave so freely.  He was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Visitation Friday, August 21, 2026, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service to be held at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Sluder officiating at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN. Visitation Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church 500 Northgate Dr. Dyer, IN, with Rev. Leo Gajardo officiating. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens – Schererville, IN.
