FRANKLIN ORLANDO LaBADIE, age 88, of Beaver Creek, MN, formerly of South Holland, IL, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at his home. He was born October 1, 1929, in Chicago, IL, to Edward and Reba (Dowling) LaBadie. Frank served his country in the United States Army at the end of WWII, receiving the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He later served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Frank married Shirley Koster on August 12, 1960. The couple lived in South Holland. Frank worked in the Steel Mills and also as an airplane mechanic at Midway Airport in Chicago. He was a former member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church where he had served as an Elder and a Deacon. He is a current member of Oak Glen United Reformed Church in Lansing, IL. He enjoyed “tinkering” and building things. Frank is survived by his six children, Sharon, Charlotte, Charles, Faye from Hogansville Georgia; Frank Jr. (Kim) LaBadie, Beaver Creek; and Scott (Laurie) LaBadie, South Holland, IL; grandchildren, Justin, Scott Jr. (Ashley), Erin & Dale; and one Great grandchild; Ryker, brother, Bob; and two sisters, Dee and Alma, and a number of other grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley on March 2, 2016; four sisters, Marion, Jane, Audrey & Bert; and a brother, William. Visitation Monday, December 4, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at Oak Glen United Reformed Church, 2244 Indiana Ave., Lansing, IL with services conducted by Rev. John Vermeer. Burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL. Arrangements entrusted to Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home, 649 E. 162nd St. South Holland, IL.
