Garret Flikkema, age 79, of Munster, Indiana, was called to his eternal home on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Mr. Flikkema is survived by his wife Winifred Flikkema nee DeVries; four children: Richard (Marcia) Flikkema, Denise (George) DeJong, Patricia (William) DeJong and James Flikkema; nine grandchildren (one deceased: Kyle Flikkema) and 16 great grandchildren. Brother of the late John (late Grace) Flikkema, George (Dorothy) Flikkema, late Maynard Flikkema, late Audrey (Pierre) Hoekema, Albert (Audrey) Flikkema, Fenna (Peter) Kimm, Agnes (David) Hoekema, late Phillip (Cornelia) Flikkema, and Jeanette (late Andrew) Van Dyken. Visitation Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home 649 E. 162nd St. (Rt.6/159th) South Holland, IL. Funeral Service Monday, April 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Protestant Reformed Church (18423 Stony Island, Lansing, IL) with services conducted by Rev. Clayton Spronk. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery " Lansing, Illinois. Mr. Flikkema was a charter member of Peace Protestant Reformed Church, was retired from Whiting Corp after 25 years of service, and was a Korean War Army Veteran. The Lord gave him to his family and by Gods grace he served his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, the church and schools. He now has received the crown of righteousness, which fadeth not away.
