George S. Lewandowski

George S. Lewandowski (aka “Bigfoot”, “Sweater George”, “Smilin’ George”), age 79, of Cedar Lake, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Beloved husband of Susan Lewandowski, nee Shewry. Loving father of Jill (Brian) Rogers, Mark (Jennie) Lewandowski, and Steven (Andrea) Lewandowski. Proud grandfather of Kirsten, Ben, Kate (Casey), Sara, Dana, Abby, Emma and Rylan. Great grandfather of Giovanni. Dear brother of Patricia (Tom) Antkowiak. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Sigmund and Regina Lewandowski, sister Susan Hill and Great Grandson Owen James.

George was a dedicated steel worker for 38 years at US Steel (South works/Gary works). George enjoyed gardening, bike riding and Jeopardy. He was always the biggest fan, as well as the first, loudest, longest and last clapper for his grandchildren at all of their events.
