George Allan Scheeringa

George Allan Scheeringa, age 71, of Highland, IN, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 11, 2019.  Beloved husband of Elouise “Ellie” Scheeringa, nee Blair for 47 years.  Loving father of Jeremy (Julie Bapst-Dwyer) Scheeringa, Timothy (Carly) Scheeringa, and Philip (Amy) Scheeringa. Proud papa to Jayla, Abigail, Logan, and Hannah Scheeringa.  Loving brother of Beverly (late Ed) Knight, Doris (Dave) Meyer, Don (Maureen) Scheeringa, and Jim (Sandy) Scheeringa.  Brother in-law to David (Andrea) Blair. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Father-in-law to Jill Antoskiewicz-Scheeringa. Preceded in death by his parents George Scheeringa and Jean Scheeringa Van Til.

George was retired from Bill’s Produce after 40 years of service.  George had been an active member of Trinity Reformed Church in Munster for many years serving as an Elder, Deacon, President of Consistory, Sunday School Teacher, Cadet Leader, and a Bible Study Leader.  George also served as a volunteer at Faith Church Munster and Love Inc.

Friends may visit with George’s family on Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN.  Celebration of Life Service will take place on Monday, April 15, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Church Munster (8411 Columbia Avenue, Munster, IN) with Rev. Rich Bawinkel and Pastor Charlie Contreras officiating. George will be laid to rest privately by the family prior to the service at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens - Schererville, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Faith Church Munster Building Fund or Hospice of Calumet Area/Riley Residence.
