Georgia Jean Garton

Georgia Jean Garton nee Comer, age 76, of Hammond, IN passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Beloved mother of Lee (Winnie Keane) Garton, Barry (Debbie Dorsey) Garton, Lisa (David) Rees, Carrol Winebrenner and Kathy (Bob) Metzger. Cherished grandmother of Zachary, Maxwell and David (Kristi) Rees, Matthew, Amanda and David Garton, Vicky (Wayne) Pavey, Jim (Dawn) Winebrenner, Sherry Saxon, Art (Janette) Winebrenner, Trisha (Derek) Betlejewski, Thomas Patterson III, Dana Craig, Bryan Allee, and Melissa (Donnell) Haynes; 22 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Dearest sister to Dean Comer and Joan Schultz. Preceded in death by her husband LeRoy Oscar Garton, parents Shelby and Anna Comer, and her daughter Donna Allee. Visitation Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at the Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN 46311. Interment, private. Georgia was the former co-owner of the Southtown Tap in Hammond and co-owner of The Hammond Trophy Shop. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all that were fortunate enough to have known her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice of the Calumet Area (600 Superior Ave., Munster, IN 46321).
