Gerald Den Besten

Gerald C. Den Besten, age 93, of St. John, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, went to be with his Lord, who he loved, on Friday, December 13, 2013. Beloved husband of his loving wife of 48 years: Kennetha(nee Sittema). Loving father of four daughters: Nancy Afman, Carol(Roger) Deddo, Sally(late Dale) Haywood, and Marla(Calvin) Boender; loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews, dear brother of Preston(Helen) Den Besten. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Jeanette(nee DeVries); his parents: Cornelius and Minnie Den Besten and two sisters: Carolyn Zylstra and Gertrude Vander Weide. Visitation with family and friends on Monday, December 16, 2013 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, 3500 Glenwood-Lansing Rd., Lansing, IL. Funeral service, Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church with services conducted by Rev. Cal Aardsma and Rev. Herman Schutt. Interment, Chapel Hill Gardens South - Worth, IL Memorial Contributions may be given to The Back to God Hour, Restoration Ministries, or Roseland Christian Ministries. Mr. Den Besten was a W.W. II Army Air Corps Veteran , he worked in the Heating and Air Conditioning business with his father and brother for many years and was an active member in several Christian Reformed Churches.
