Gerald J. “Jer” Kuiper, age 76, of Gary, IN, was called to his eternal home in Heaven on Saturday, November 5, 2016. Beloved husband of Patricia Kuiper, nee Vander Heyden. Loving father of Terry (Tamie) Kuiper, Tim Kuiper Sr., Todd (Michele) Kuiper, and Tamara Patricks. Devoted grandfather of Kristen (Thomas) Fennema, Ryan (Katie) Kuiper, Russell (Robyn) Kuiper, Tim (Alicia) Kuiper, Kelly (Josh) DeJong, Travis (Kristin) Kuiper, Austin and Jack Kuiper, Erica (Andrew) Ward, and Elyssa Patricks; great-grandfather of Keira, Caedon and Anaia Fennema, Ames Kuiper, Leeland Kuiper, Brayden Kuiper, Alivia, Dylan, and Gavin DeJong, and eagerly expected baby Kuiper. Dear brother of Ken Kuiper, Cindy Kuiper, and Dan (Jan) Kuiper. Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents John and Helen Kuiper. Mr. Kuiper was the founder and operator of Kuiper Rabbit Ranch. He loved the Lord wholeheartedly and encouraged others often in their faith walk. He was a life-long member at New Life Christian Reformed Church serving on a variety of committees, youth group leader and served many terms as an elder. Visitation Tuesday, November 8, 2016 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral service Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. both directly at New Life Christian Reformed Church (3010 Ridge Rd. Highland, IN 46322) with Dr. William Sytsma officiating. Interment Hope Cemetery – Highland, IN. Memorial contributions may be given to New Life Christian Reformed Church, Keira Fund.
