Gertrude Boersma

Mrs. Gertrude Boersma, age 88 of Newaygo, MI died Wednesday, July 7 in Fremont, MI. She was born in South Holland, the daughter of Jennie (Witvliet) and Tys T. Gouwens on October 30, 1921. She married Garrett Raymond Boersma on January 17, 1942 in Hammond, IN. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2001. Mrs. Boersma is survived by her children: Darlene (Ray) Botma, Larry (Barbara) Boersma, Nancy (Ken) DeYoung, and Jerry (Bonnie) Boersma; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; sister: Marian (Vern) Churchill; sisters-in-law: Nettie Gouwens, Mary Ann Gouwens, and Pat Gouwens. She was preceded in death by her husband Garrett Boersma, daughter Barbara Jean Boersma, grandson Stewart Boersma, great granddaughter Nicole DeYoung, six brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held Monday, July 12, 2010 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM at the First Reformed Church -15924 South Park Ave. South Holland, IL, with Pastor Mik Sutton officiating.
