Gertrude Hoekstra

Gertrude Hoekstra, nee Smith, age 90, of Lansing, IL went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 24, 2021.  Beloved wife of the late Herman Hoekstra.  Loving mother of the late Art (Mary), Don, Howard (Karen), Al (Yvonne), Steve (Gloria), and Ken Hoekstra.  Cherished grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.  Dear sister of the late Sam (late Catherine) Smith, Ron (late Carol) Smith, Bill (Betty) Smith, Dorothy (Rich) DeVries, Dave (Lois) Smith, the late Jack (Jean) Smith, and Harry (Andrea) Smith; sister-in-law of the late Les (late Lorraine) Hoekstra, Rose Kuipers, Ralph (Lois) Hoekstra, Evelyn (John) Lagestee, Gertrude (Will) VanderMeyden, Audrey (John) Witvoet, and Jack (Penny) Hoekstra.  Preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Beatrice Smith.  Gertrude was a charter member of Grace Church in Lansing.  She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Private family visitation and funeral service on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN with Rev.
