Gertrude A. Vroom

Gertrude A. Vroom, nee Van Baren, age 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 16, 2018. Beloved wife of George Donald Vroom. Loving mother of Donald (Wendy) Vroom and Patricia (Louis) Gagliardi. Devoted grandmother of Beau, Brady, Myles, and Maisy Vroom and Michael, David, Matthew, and Andrew Gagliardi.  Dear sister of the late Bertha (late Anthony) De Young, late Alice (late Art) Zandstra, late Willametta (late Sam) Vroegh, late Agnes (Gene) Kuiper, late Joanne (George) Vroom, Gise (Carolyn) Van Baren, late Gil (late Joanne) Van Baren, Sylvia (Rev. Dr. Mel) Hugen, late Frank (Eileen) Van Baren and Anna Mae (Case) Nymeyer. Kind aunt to many nephews and nieces. Mrs. Vroom was a co-founder of Little Colony clothing stores. Visitation Monday, March 19, 2018 from 4:00 – 9:00 P.M. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Funeral service Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Cornerstone Protestant Reformed Church (13251 W. 109th Ave. Dyer, IN, with services conducted by Rev. Jonathan Mahtani. A private family burial service will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Lansing, IL, prior to the funeral service.  Memorial contributions may be given to Cornerstone Protestant Reformed Church.
