Glenn D. Kooy

Glenn Dale Kooy, age 90, of Beecher formerly of Lansing, IL, traded time for eternity on Thursday, September 17, 2026. Beloved husband of Carrie Kooy, nee Witvoet. Loving father of Lora (Paul) Firlit and Gerald (Nanci) Kooy. Cherished grandfather of Jon (Rachel) Firlit, Karie (Joshua) Roeda, David (Christine) Firlit, Karyn Firlit, Laurie (Tim) DeJong, Jennifer (Michael) Sikma, Gerald Jr. (Hannah) Kooy, Andrew (Allison) Kooy, and Kristina (Paul) Feenstra; great-grandfather of Molly and Ethan Firlit, Aubrey, Addison, and Amelia Roeda, Jackson, Elsie, and Sadie Firlit, Bryce, Aiden, Melanie, Jude, and Laurén DeJong, Evan, Bristol, and Penny Van Baren, Charlotte, Nora, and Levi Kooy. Dear brother of Dale (Shirley) Kooy, the late Allen (late Mabelle) Kooy, late Ronald (late Anne) Kooy, late Lorraine (late Lester Hoekstra, late Art Wiers), and the late Wayne (late Joyce) Kooy. Preceded in death by his daughter Caryn Lorraine Kooy and by his great-grandson Nathan Henry Feenstra. Glenn was a United States Army veteran. He was a heavy equipment operator for Thornton Cartage. Glenn was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Visitation Sunday, September 20, 2026 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN. Visitation Monday, September 21, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with services conducted by Rev. J.J. Witvoet.  Interment Skyline Memorial Park – Monee, IL.
