Grace Kasper

Grace Kasper (nee Kuiper), age 77, of Crete, IL, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018. Beloved wife of James Kasper. Devoted mother of Albert (Carol) Kasper, Janet Kasper and James (Terri) Kasper; grandmother of Ashley (Young) Yu, Joel Kasper, Mackenzie Kasper, Madeline Kasper and Kelsie Kasper. Dear sister of Paul (Mary) Kuiper, Alice (Dave) Wiley and Betty Kuiper-Gross. Preceded in death by her parents Paul and Grace Kuiper and sister Ruth DeJong-Gray.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Funeral service Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Church (PCA) 3134 Ridge Rd, Lansing, IL with services conducted by Rev. Ben Kappers. Interment Skyline Memorial Park – Monee, IL.

Grace Kuiper emigrated from the Netherlands with her family in 1954. After coming through Newark, New Jersey, her family finally settled in Lansing, IL. Grace met James Kasper, also a recent emigrant from the Netherlands, and they were married in 1959. Besides being a mother and homemaker, Grace worked as a salesperson for many years at Minnesota Fabrics in Homewood, Illinois. Grace was passionate about sewing, whether it be clothing for her family or quilts to keep them warm. A life-long Christian, Grace was a member of First Church PCA (formerly First Reformed Church, Lansing).
