Gwendolyn R. Edwards

Gwendolyn R. Edwards, nee Smith, was born to the union of William and Azalia Smith in Detroit, Michigan.

Gwendolyn attended the University of Michigan and received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Services. She later was united with her beloved husband Jerry Edwards Sr. who preceded her.

Gwendolyn used her knowledge and kindness to become a social worker with the Illinois Department of Public Aid which she served over 20 years.

Many times she went beyond her job by giving clothes, money, and assuring one person went to her Prom from her own funds.

Gwendolyn was mother to Michael, Roger, and Ricky who preceded her in death and leaving to mourn her children Sandra, Jerry Jr., Gerry, and Gail; grandchildren Richard Jr, Latrise, Sharla, Dominique, and Justin; great-grandchildren Da’Nesha and Da’Kia; great-great grandchild Nasir.
