Harris J. Van Drunen, age 74, of Cedar Lake, IN, formerly of South Holland, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Beloved husband of Penny Van Drunen, nee Vanderlinden. Loving father of Mark (Suzanne) and the late Scott Van Drunen. Devoted grandfather of Ryan, Sarah and Karen Van Drunen. Visitation Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 P.M. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Funeral service Monday, August 22, 2016 at Faith Church (100 - 81st Ave., Dyer, IN) at 10:00 a.m. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery - Lansing, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of the Calumet Area or American Cancer Society. Mr. Van Drunen was a fireman for the South Holland Fire Department for 30 years and Fire Chief for 25 years.
