Hazel I. Schell

Hazel I. Schell nee Buus, age 87, of Bourbonnais, Illinois, passed away peacefully May 31, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Vincent R. Schell. Loving mother of Robert (Cheryl) Schell, the late Kevin Schell and James (Elizabeth) Schell. Cherished grandmother of Rebecca Schell (Matt Smith), Shannon Schell and Cayden McInturf. Dear sister of Bernice Quale. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings. Hazel will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation to be held Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the prayer service at 10:30 a.m. at Smits – Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd, Steger, Illinois 60475. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Liborius Church, 71 W 35th St, Steger, IL 60475. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, IL.
