Henry Lee Edward Chatman was born to the parents of William
Chatman and Mattie Lucille Cumby in Etta, Mississippi. He was
one of 11 children.
He was best known by many as Lee. He was age 85 of
Calument City, IL, deceased on February 20, 2021.
The Beloved husband of Alice Chatman for 35 years. He was
the adoring father to Casondra (Michael) Chatman Willis and
Charlene Chatman Roby. Cherished grandfather of three:
Mychal D. Willis, Melissa (Andrew) W. Silvers, and Josilyn N.
Roby. Great grandchildren: Lauryn A. Willis and Matthias J.
Silvers.
Henry Lee Chatman leaves to cherish his loving memories two
siblings: Mavis Black and Larry (Flora) Chatman, sister-n-laws,
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Henry Lee Chatman lived a full life Trusting God. He knew
through trials and tribulations of life that God has always been
there with him. He sang the Gospel of Jesus Christ for many
years with his brothers, The Chatman Brothers and another
group later in life, The Traveling Kings. He leaves a legacy to his
children and grandchildren that Trusting God in praise, prayer
and worship is what will give us the strength and power to
endure life’s journey.
Dad loved his family and friends. He was a quiet person if you
knew him, but when he spoke it was effective. Many times he
would say to his daughters and others, “Pray to the Good Lord,
because Prayer can go further than you could ever go.” As I
reflect on everything my father has said to me, I am comforted
to know that he is with Our Savior, Jesus Christ!
My dad lost his eye sight many years ago, but his spiritual eyes
were sharp Eagles eyes.
ISAIAH 40:31
But those who Hope in the Lord renew their strength. They
will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow
weary, they will walk, not faint.
I know my dad’s strength has been renewed. I know my dad is
not at all weary, anymore. Dad, I know you are seeing the
Glory and the Beauty of Heaven. To be in the presence of God,
I can only adore this moment for you. You have joined your
parents, sisters and brothers and I KNOW it is a jubilee! I can
only imagine you ALL singing with the Angels.
I am so very happy that you are REJOICING! You will be missed
but we all thank God we have had precious time with a
Remarkable God Fearing Man! We love you—Dad,
grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and to
Alice, husband!
Pepperoni and Olyvia (Alice’s dogs) will miss you letting them
out for their little walks, you talking with them and just miss
your presence in the house.
Charlene and I will most definitely will miss our long talks,
praying together and listening to your spiritual guidance from
your Wisdom of Life. We will see each other again and REJOICE
together that we have won this journey of Life on earth, Victory
in Jesus Christ, Amen!
