Howard A. DeYoung, age 88, of Crete, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 25, 2023.  Husband of Cornelia DeYoung, nee Beeze, and the late Betty Jean DeYoung, nee Aggen.  Father of Alan (Julia) DeYoung, Lisa (Rick) Triemstra, Laura (John) Veldhuizen, Russell (Julie) DeYoung, Glen (Julie) DeYoung, and Steven (Jennifer) DeYoung. Step-father of Randy (Lisa) Nydam. Grandfather of Amanda DeYoung, Kimberly (Sean) Quirk, Robert (Dawn) Triemstra, Jennifer (Kevin) Boer, Rebecca (Brian) Coffelt, Jacob (Shawna) Veldhuizen, Danielle (Van) Giles, Katy (Will) Suppes, Kristin (Aaron) DaCorte, Olivia (Josh) DeYoung, Loralee DeYoung, Arie DeYoung, Peter DeYoung, Alexander (Taylor) DeYoung, and Benjamin (Naomi) DeYoung. Step grandfather of Liam Nydam. Great-grandfather of Dylan, Kirsten, Alexis, Jackson, Sydney, Zachary, Logan, Connor, Nolan, Molly, Maximum, Myles, Blake, Monty, Knox, Declan, Calum, Cyrus, Hayden and Emery. Brother of the late Harriet (late Lester) Santefort. Preceded in death by his parents Harry and Louise DeYoung.

Visitation Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN with services conducted by Rev. Gerald Erffmeyer.  Private family interment will be Friday, December 29, 2023 at Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to First Reformed Church (15924 South Park Ave. South Holland, IL 60473).
