Huguette J. Johnson

Huguette Marie Hansen Johnson, nee Finel, age 91 of Schererville, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026. Loving mother of Robert (Kelley) Hansen. Cherished grandmother of Kassandra Hansen and Jocelyn Hansen. Dear sister of Bernard Finel. Preceded in death by her parents Leon and Marie Finel.

Huguette was born in Damascus, Syria and grew up in France. She came to the United States in 1965 and married. She retired from teaching at the age of 72 and was still being recognized by past students for many years after her retirement. She spoke five languages and was very well travelled. She lived many years in Lansing, Illinois until moving in with her son and his wife the past year. She was involved with the Red Hat Society, French clubs, and teachers clubs until recently. She was kind and was always willing to help others in need. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
