Irene S. Herlocker-Meyer, age 93, of Munster, IN passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Robert D. Herlocker and the late Dr. John Meyer. Loving mother of Despina (Michael) Pelletier, Sarah (Kerry) Moore, Rebekah Howes, and Rachel (David) Warner. Proud grandmother of Sammy, Kaitlyn, Tommy, Cody, and Theresa. Preceded in death by her parents George A. and Bessie Speros. A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the memorial service at 5:00 PM at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Interment private. Irene was a member of the A.A.U.W, Shirley Heinze Land Trust, and the Indiana Chapter of The Nature Conservancy. Her passion was the preservation of the Hoosier Prairie.
