Jacob H. Hoekstra

Jacob H. Hoekstra, age 88, of Grant Park, IL, passed away September 9, 2022 at Beecher Manor. He was born March 19, 1934 in Grant Park, Illinois, the son of Herman and Effie Kooyenga-Hoekstra. Jacob married Laura A. Klemp on October 6, 1955.

Survivors include his daughter Marlene (Larry) Smith, and two sons, Robert (Carol) and Glenn (Jan) Hoekstra; his grandchildren: Jennifer (Christina Goodrich) Smith, Jeff (Heidi) Smith, Adam (Diane) Hoekstra and Calvin (Kaleigh) Hoekstra; his great-grandchildren; Benjamin, Naomi, Kimber, and Jade Hoekstra, and one sister Thelma (John) Kok. Jacob was preceded in death by his wife Laura Klemp-Hoekstra and by his parents; Herman and Effie Kooyenga-Hoekstra, and brothers; Drewes “Duke”, Tom, and Menno Hoekstra.

Mr. Hoekstra was a member of the Momence Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Jake was a skilled tradesman in the construction and woodworking industry and a member of the local construction labor union. After retiring from construction, he went on to work in the maintenance department at the Eastcourt Village in Kankakee, IL. He enjoyed being actively involved in the life of his church, family and many friends.

Visitation will be held at the Momence Orthodox Presbyterian Church (4132 Route 1, Momence, IL) on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 4:00 till 8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, 10:30 A.M. at the church. Interment will be at Momence Cemetery. Memorials to the Mid America Reformed Seminary appreciated.
