James J. Hon Manteno formerly of South Holland, IL James J. Hon, age 84, of Manteno, Illinois formerly of South Holland, IL passed away Monday, September 10, 2012. Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Riddle) Hon, dear father of Curtis Hon and Jeffery (Cherie) Hon; loving "Poppy" of four grandchildren: Nicholas (Amanda), Sarah, Dayna, and Marissa; dear brother of Carson Hon, Ray Hon, late Verneal Mick, late Lowell Hon, and the late William Edward Hon; cherished son of the late John and Viola Hon. Born in Poyner, Missouri, James served as a S/SGT Combat Engineer in the Korean War. Employed by Maren Engineering as a Field Service Engineer for 25 years. Served the Village of South Holland Fire Department for 13 years, retiring as Assistant Chief. Served as Commander of the Korean War Veterans Association, Ozark Mountain Chapter while residing in Missouri. Visitation Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 9:00A.M until the time of the service at 10:30 A.M. at the Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home, 649 E. 162nd St.(Rt.6/159th St.) South Holland, IL.
