James D. Laskarin

James D. Laskarin, age 92, of Dyer, IN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.  Beloved husband of Josephine Laskarin, nee Machura. Loving father of Dr. Lisa Laskarin and the late David John Laskarin. Grandfather of the late Mark Laskarin.  Dear brother of Shirley (late Edward) Novak, the late Joseph (late Ann) Laskarin, late John (late Margaret) Laskarin, late Anthony Laskarin, and the late Catherine (late Joe) Mason. Brother-in-law of James (Dottie) Machura and the late Frank (late Kathy) Machura. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Catherine Laskarin. James was a proud United States Army Veteran.  He was the founder and owner of Lassie Plumbing and Heating. James retired as a Captain for the Hammond Fire Department Local 556.  James was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

Visitation Monday, May 12, 2025 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Prayer service Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home to St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN for 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass. Interment St. John - St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery – Hammond, IN.
