James J. Osterman

James J. Osterman, age 78, of Dyer, IN, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Linda Osterman (nee Burns). Loving father of Steve (Heather) Osterman, Amy (Abdoulaye Camara) Osterman, and Christiane (Erik Dworak) Nash. Cherished grandfather of Isaac Nash, Isabelle Nash, and Max Osterman. Dear brother of Robert (Helen) Osterman and Sharon (late Sam) Crowley. Preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Ann Osterman and 3 brothers: Clarence Jr., Gerald, and Richard Osterman. James was a retired Pipefitter for Local #597. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Dyer VFW Post #6448. James distinguishably served from 1967-1968 in the Vietnam War, Battery A of the 4th Battalion 5th Infantry in the United States Army. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Private arrangements entrusted to Smits Funeral Home – Dyer, IN. Inurnment to be held Monday, April 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. The Patriot Guard will lead a procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Anyone who would like to join the procession should meet us directly at the Kohl's parking lot in Crete, IL by 12:30 p.m. on April 29, 2024. The address for Kohl's is 23755 S.
