James A. Van Zyl

James A. Van Zyl, age 74, of Highland, IN, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019.  Loving husband of Kathleen Van Zyl, nee DeBlaey.  Devoted father of Kimberly (Galen) Van Roekel, Kristin (Michael) De Weerd, Patrick (Heather) Van Zyl, and Derrick (Teena) Van Zyl.  Proud grandfather of Kylie (Ben) Buma, Mackenzie (Blake) Mellema, Cambrie and Gabriel Van Roekel; Megan (Cody) Velthuizen, Caleb and Mariah DeWeerd; Zoe, Delia, Oliver, Huck, and Linus Van Zyl; Jackson, Sophia, Juliana, and Weston Van Zyl.  Dear brother of John (Dorothy) Van Zyl, Glenn (Connie) Van Zyl, and Gloria (Gene) Van Den Bosch.  Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his parents Herman and LaVerne Van Zyl.

Visitation Friday, December 13, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at Crossroads Community Church 1538 Janice Dr. Schererville, IN, with Rev. Drew Brown officiating.

Jim was a teacher in Edgerton, MN and an administrator for Christian schools in Willmar, MN, Ontario, CA and Highland, IN. He was a devoted husband, and a caring father and grandpa. His greatest joy was in serving others. He loved his Lord, his family and his church.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Memorial contributions may be given to Highland Christian School , Crossroads Community Church or charity of choice.
