Jay Zandstra

Jay Zandstra, age 78, of Highland, IN went home to his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Beloved husband of Carol Zandstra, nee Slager. Loving father of William (Judy) Zandstra, Susan (Ken) DeWindt, Diane (Terry) Krooswyk, and Neil (Jo) Zandstra. Devoted grandfather of Jason, Neil, and Bethany Krooswyk; Janette (Patric) Tuuk, Jay (Krystal) Zandstra, Julia and Robert Zandstra; Samuel and Sally Boss; and James Zandstra and great-grandfather of Margo and expected baby Tuuk. Dear brother of Gail Zandstra and brother-in-law of Jean Blauw, Neal (Shirlee) Slager and Larry (Janet) Slager. Preceded in death by a son-in-law Ken Boss and a grandson Thomas Zandstra. Mr. Zandstra was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a founder and past co-owner of Zandstra’s Store for Men and Dunhill Tuxedos. He was a charter member of Community United Reformed Church and honored to serve on many boards including Community Hospital Systems. Visitation Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Community United Reformed Church, 8405 Alexander St. Schererville, IN. Funeral service Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Community United Reformed Church with Rev. James Oord officiating. Private interment prior to the service at Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to Highland Christian School or charity of choice.
