Jean C. Massei, nee Zimmerman, age 83, of Dyer, IN, formerly of Beecher, IL, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 21, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Leroy "Bum" Massei. Devoted mother of Laura (Thomas) Abramowicz, William Massei, John (Kristine) Massei, and Edward (Katherine) Massei. Proud grandmother of Katie, Kelly, Andrea, Morgan, and Michael. Dear sister-in-law of Lana Bender and Wayne Pfiel. Kind aunt of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents James and Clara Zimmerman and four sisters. Visitation Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral service Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN 46311 with Rev. Robert L. Hempel, Retired Pastor of United Church of Christ, Former Pastor of St. Petri United Church of Christ of Chicago''s East Side neighborhood, officiating. Interment Elmwood Cemetery - Hammond, IN.
