Jean U. Smart

Jean U. Smart (nee Doyle) Age 91, of Fountain Hills, Arizona, formerly a 63-year resident of Miller Woods/Steger, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2024.  Loving mother to Kathleen (Thomas) Weishaar, Carolynn (Dave) Fields, and Steven Smart. She is also survived by her sister Sue Doyle, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  Jean was proceeded in death by her husband of 70 years, Warren Smart, her three brothers, March, Wayne and Terry Doyle and her parents Earl and Lolita Doyle.  She will be greatly missed. Jean was a first grade teacher at Grant School in South Chicago Heights for twenty years and a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Steger.  She also enjoyed square dancing, playing bridge and playing the piano.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthritis Foundation .  A private graveside service will be held at Homewood Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements entrusted to Smits, Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Road, Steger, IL 708-755-6100
