Jean Smith, nee Sekiguchi, age 99,  passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2020.  Beloved wife of the late Barron Smith.  Loving mother of Arnette (Michael) Bosch, Jolene (Joe Gasiorek) Smith, and the late Nadine (Andrew Webb) Smith.  Proud grandmother of Lee (Donna) Morris and Steven (Jennifer) Kuchar and great-grandmother of Ashley, Jeremiah, Jaylyn, and Karyssa. Dear sister of Nao Wenkam and Nobu Asaki. Preceded in death by her parents Shozo and Haruyo (nee Tanishita) Sekiguchi and two brothers Kenichiro Sekiguchi and Tadashi Sekiguchi  Mrs. Smith was a retired Registered Nurse.  She was a member of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), the Go Go Travel Club, and Checkerboard Entertainment Group.  She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

A private family funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN.  Burial will take place at Montrose Cemetery – Chicago, IL.  We encourage you to leave a message of condolence for the family on our online guestbook at www.SMITSFH.com.
