Jerome E. Kubisz

Jerome E. Kubisz, age 70, longtime resident of Highland, IN, passed away peacefully Friday, September 5, 2025.  Loving father of Julia (Bill) D’Attilio and Philip (Zayne) Kubisz.  Brother of Christopher (Betsy) Kubisz and Susan (Joe) Murovic.  Kind uncle of nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his parents Edmund and Eileen “Cookie” Kubisz.

Jerome fulfilled a dream to work for the newspaper he read every day, The Chicago Tribune, at which he put in over 30 years of service as a machinist until his retirement. He was an accomplished fly fisherman, and he would tie his own flies in his spare time. Jerome was happiest when he was sailing, and when he wasn’t sailing, he would be counting down the days till boating season began. Every weekend in the summer, he could be found at the Michigan City Marina sailing and enjoying his time in the sun and out on the lake.

Visitation Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.  Prayer service Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with Deacon Gary Blue officiating at Smits Funeral Home James E. Janusz, Director 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN.  Interment Holy Cross Cemetery – Calumet City, IL.
