Jerry (Gerald) E. Gerardi, 68, of Chicago Heights, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021.  Jerry was born on May 22, 1952 in Chicago Heights, IL.  Loving son, brother, uncle and friend.  He is preceded in death by his brother, Gary; and his parents, Eugene “Jake” and Maryanne Gerardi.  Jerry attended Bloom High School and Prairie State College.  He worked for School District 170 and retired from the city of Chicago Heights.  He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #1198 in Park Forest, IL.  He loved classic car shows, owning many of the classics himself in his lifetime.  His humor and comical wit delighted all who knew him.  He was also lovingly referred to as “the Mayor” of Chicago Heights.  He will forever be remembered for his jokes, his infectious laughter, happy demeanor, and his smiling face.  He is survived by his siblings: Gene “Butch”, Janis (Ken) Rudnicki, Marianne (Gilbert) Fushi, Larry, Caralie (Phil) Cristelli, Rob (Janon) and Leroy (Gretchen) Sutherland; as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, and his beloved ever-entertaining, delight of a cat, Troy.

Visitation will be held at Smits - Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Road, Steger, IL on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. Due to Covid-19, interment is private for family members only.  Please follow state guidelines of wearing masks and social distancing.
