Joan C. Eriks, nee Zandstra, age 53, of Dyer, IN, went to her eternal home on Monday, August 7, 2006. Joan is survived by her husband: Garrett W. Eriks; one son: Garrett J. (Jennifer) Eriks of Hudsonville, MI; three daughters: Melissa (Brad) Vis of Dyer, IN, Elizabeth (Scott) Vander Griend of Lansing, IL and Nicole (Joel) Zandstra of Dyer, IN; 12 Grandchildren; one sister: Karen (Howard) Hoekstra of Lansing; one sister-in-law: Judy (Ken) Ooms; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother: Arthur Zandstra and her parents: Arthur and Alice (nee Van Baren) Zandstra. Visitation Wednesday, August 9, 2006 from 2:00 P.M. " 9:00 P.M. at the Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home, 649 E. 162nd St. (Rt.6/159th St.) South Holland, IL. Funeral service Thursday, August 10, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the South Holland Protestant Reformed Church (16511 South Park Ave., South Holland, IL) with Rev. Ron Van Overloop officiating. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lansing, IL. The Lord gave her to her family and by His grace she served her husband, children, grandchildren, and church. God be praised for this gracious gift. Now the Lord, in His infinite wisdom, has given her the crown of righteousness, which fades not away. Joan was an active member of Peace Protestant Reformed Church in Lansing, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to Protestant Reformed School Building Fund or William J. Riley Hospice House.
