Joan W. Richmond, nee Salapski, age 89, of Schererville, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Beloved wife of Allen Richmond. Loving mother of Nancy (James) Bathurst, Susan (Tim) Hartwell, and Jan (Howard) Smith. Cherished grandmother of Kathy Bathurst, Michael Bathurst, Dayne (Nicole) Hartwell, Jennifer Bendy, Andrew (Nicole) Smith, Rachel (Kyle) Norris, Jeremy Bendy, Whitney Smith, Kristen (Steve) Olson, Kara (Tony) Decent, and Megan Smith; great-grandmother of 19 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of the late Edward (Betty) Salapski. Joan was dearly loved by her family and will be missed.

Memorial visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN. Memorial mass Friday, May 2, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 Joliet St. Dyer, IN. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of your choice.
