John DeBoer Sr., age 80, of Chicago Heights, IL, passed away peacefully Monday, May 18, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Stella DeBoer, nee Kooi. Devoted father of John (Sandra) DeBoer Jr., Debra (Greg) Kikkert, and Brian (Lisa) DeBoer. Proud grandfather of Kevin (Lori) DeBoer, Lorrie (Jason) Musch, Jennifer (Eric) Yukon, Kelly (Nathan) Aardsma, Shelley (Robert) Sons, Robert (Kelsey) Terpstra, Alyssa (Brandon) Curl, Jessica (fiancé Cody Curl) DeBoer, Samuel DeBoer and Jacob DeBoer; great-grandfather of 11. Dear brother of the late Sid (Betty) DeBoer. Preceded in death by son-in-law Ken Terpstra. Visitation Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 3:00 - 8:00 pm at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN 46311. Funeral service Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Reformed Church (8411 Columbia Ave. Munster, IN) with Rev. Rich Bawinkle officiating.
