John M. Dykstra, age 80, late of Crete, formerly of Lansing, IL, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 12, 2016. Beloved husband of Marilyn Dykstra, nee Boersma. Devoted father of Debra (Douglas) Jager, Cathy (Greg) Gabbert, Michael (Sheila) Dykstra, and Jodi (Scott) Tucker. Proud grandfather of Erin (Joshua) Alderson, Jessica (Michael) Senatore, Benjamin (Lauren) Horjus, Andrew (Lydia) Horjus, Annalisa Dykstra, Nicole Jager, Cassandra Jager, Kelly Dykstra, Benito Briseno, Jonathan Dykstra, Marissa Gabbert, Pierce Gabbert, and Logan Tucker; great-grandfather of Jedidiah, Nehemiah, Zechariah, and Lydia Alderson. Dear brother of Betty (late Frank) Evans, Chris (Ron) Zigterman, Patty (John) Shoop, the late Alice (late Merrit) Hinkel, the late Peter (late Bea) Dykstra, and the late Cornelius (Effie) Dykstra. John was also a deacon, elder, and Sunday school teacher at Munster Christian Reformed Church and a school board member for Illiana and Lansing Christian Schools for many years.
