John P Hahn

John P. Hahn, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.) age 87, late of Crete, IL. Born December 4, 1922 in Cullom, IL to John C. and Lula M. Hahn. Passed away Friday, February 12, 2010. After graduating high school he came to Chicago and worked for Pullman Aircraft Co. He married Esther J. nee Pranger of Chicago on January 30, 1943 and shortly afterward joined the Army Air Corps. He graduated from Air Cadet School in St. Louis, MO and Scott Field, IL. He flew C-47s in WWII and spent 28 years with the Air Force Reserves, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After the war, he worked construction in Chicago and then opened his own general contracting business. John and his wife moved to Dolton, IL in 1954 where they raised five children. After closing the business in 1961, he worked for Prudential Insurance Co. until retiring. John enjoyed private aviation, flying his own Cessna 182 until he was 84. He also belonged to the Q.B.s, Silver Wings, UFOs (United Flying Octogenarians) and worked with the Civil Air Patrol. John leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 67 years Esther J. Hahn nee Pranger. Dearest father of Ronald (Mary) Hahn of Crown Point, IN, Cheryl (John) Hosemann of Ferryville, WI, Janice (Thomas) Papp of Naperville, IL, John C. Hahn of Sherwood, AR, and Dawn Bullock of Plainfield, IL. Dear grandpa of 17; Great-grandpa of 7. Kind brother of Donald Hahn of Cullom, IL, Dolores (Dale) Siron of Bloomington, IL, Rita Kincaid of Pontiac, IL, Teresa (John) Franey of Chatsworth, IL and the late Eula Hahn. John was preceded in death by his parents John C. & Lula M. Hahn.
