John Houston was born to the late Henry and Eleanora Houston on June 29, 1927. John was the eighth of nine children. When he was an infant, the family moved to St. Louis, MO. Johns siblings preceded him in death. Brothers: James and Charles Henderson, Mansefie, Paul and Ray Houston; Sisters: Lottie Chism and Marguerite Askew. John was a product of St. Louis public schools. He graduated from Lincoln Elementary School and Vashon High School. He attended Stowe Teachers College for a year. John was a veteran of the Korean War. John was employed at General Motors Corporation until his retirement. John lived in St. Louis until moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. He recently moved to Lynwood, Illinois to live with his beloved nephew Ronald Dotson and his wife Theresa. They put their whole being into taking such good care of him. He left behind his wife of 68 years, Jean; nephews: Ronald (Theresa) Dotson and Kenneth Houston; niece: Alene Holloway; grand-niece: Janice (Tavares) Smith and great-grand nieces and nephews; goddaughter: Wendy Stone and many cherished friends. John d a long and fruitful life. His favorite activities were watching sports and visiting cousins He loved having family and friends gather at his home.
