John D. Kitchens

John D. Kitchens, age 49, of Dyer, IN, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 4, 2023, following a brief battle with cancer.  John was born in Hammond, IN on August 30, 1974 to Carol Lynn and the late David Kitchens.  Loving husband of the late Tanda M.D. Kitchens, nee Patterson. Devoted father of Kyle Kitchens.  Kind grandson of Florence (late Kenneth) Micona.  Dear brother of the late Jennifer Kitchens, and late foster brother Robert Ritz.  Nephew of numerous aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially cousin Adam Pearson.  Also, preceded in death by his grandparents Virgil Kitchens and Mabel  Redferrin.  John had a vibrant spirit and embraced life with a twinkle in his eye and a grin on his face.  He will be dearly missed by anyone who knew him.  John was a member of Local #731 and a dedicated employee of JM Wrecking.

Visitation Friday, November 10, 2023 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, with Deacon Jim Renwick officiating.
