John J. Lagestee, age 96, of Dyer, Indiana, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 26, 2022. Preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-one years: Dolly (Korsten), son-in-law Daniel Dykstra and infant grandson John Daniel.

Survived by two daughters: Nancy Schripsema (Herman) and Pat Dykstra (late Daniel). Blessed with four grandchildren: Jeff Schripsema, Kris Boes, David Dykstra and Melissa McNary; and nine great grandchildren.

Also preceded in death were five brothers: Jacob, Walter, Peter, Harry, and Nelson; and two sisters: Elizabeth and Hilda. John was the last surviving member of this large Lagestee family originally from South Holland, IL.

Visitation Monday, June 6, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN with Rev. Shaun Buikema officiating. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL.  To honor John’s life, memorial gifts may be given to Elim Christian Services , 13020 S. Central Ave. Crestwood, IL 60418.
