John F. Popyk

John F. Popyk, age 75, of Lowell, IN, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025.  Beloved husband of Shirley Popyk, nee Pfau. Loving father of John Paul (Ashley) Popyk II and Kristina Petersen.  Dear brother of Elaine (late Nick) Stamate, late LeRoy (Sandy) Popyk, and Diana (Paul) Douglas.  Kind uncle to several nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his parents John P. and Marian Popyk.
John was an electrician for Inland Steel for over 30 years after which he worked as security at Franciscan Health.  John enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle and sky diving with over 700 jumps throughout his life.  He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran.  He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Visitation Friday, March 21, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN.  Interment will take place at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery—Elwood, IL.
