John J. Ranieri Jr.

John J. Ranieri Jr., age 83, of Matteson, IL, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Beloved husband of 57 years to the late Carol Ranieri. Loving father of Richard (Dana) Ranieri, Sherri Ranieri, and Gina (Andrew) Derewonko. Cherished grandfather of Sarah, Kaitlyn, Alyssa, Logan and Benjamin and great-grandfather of Raegan and Boone. Dear brother of Barbara (late Carl) DuBridge. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. 

John was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He also served the local communities for many years. He was a Merchant Patrol Officer for Chicago Heights, a Crete Police Officer, a Community Service Officer for Matteson and was an Officer for the Emergency Services and Disaster Agency for Rich Township for over 30 years where he also became Chief. John was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A Visitation will be held Monday, September 29, 2025, from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Smits - Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd., Steger, IL 60475. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Smits - Steger Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, IL.
