John D. Scanlon, age 75, of South Holland, IL, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016. Beloved husband of Mary Jane Scanlon, nee DeVries. Loving father of Michael (Dana) Scanlon, Sean (Kim) Scanlon, Katie (Pat) Mulcrone. Devoted grandfather of Reilly, Taylor, Anthony, Hannah and Leo Scanlon, Reagan, Nola and Cullen Mulcrone. Dearest brother of William (Maripat) Scanlon, Mary Catherine (John) Durkin, Noreen Cherep, Andrew “Skip” Scanlon; and brother-in-law of Nicholas (Karen) DeVries, Jr. Proud uncle of many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Preceded in death by his brother Edward “Butch” Scanlon and his parents William and Catherine Scanlon. Visitation Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home, 649 E. 162nd St. (Rt.6/159th St.) South Holland, IL. Visitation also will be held on Friday August 12, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Church – Highland (8910 Grace Street, Highland, IN) with Rev.
