John Van Gennep

John Van Gennep, age 86, of Lowell, IN formerly of South Holland, IL passed away Friday, June 19, 2020.  Beloved husband of Patricia Van Gennep, nee Smail.  Loving father of Janet (Chip) Sobek, John (Kris) Van Gennep and Jim "Whitey" (Donna) Van Gennep.  Grandfather of Stacy, Jake, Ryne, Rachael, Riley, Nikole, and John. Step brother of the late Gerald (Barbara) De Wolf and the late Marie (Chuck) Monsma. Visitation Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 P.M. at  Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30 & Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN.  Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery - Elwood, IL. John was a U.S. Army Veteran and was retired from Northern Illinois Gas Company.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project.
