John G Wagner

John G. Wagner, 87, of Grant Park, Illinois, went to his home in Heaven on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. John was born December 20, 1938, son of John and Johanna Wagner. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army where he then met his wife of 60 years Lucille Wagner (nee Wassenaar). He was a lifelong farmer in Grant Park and co-owner of Wagner Farms. He raised vegetables, grain, bedding plants and poinsettias along with his wife, son and family. He raised his family to love the Lord and attended Momence Christian Reformed Church where he served as an elder. He later joined the First Reformed Church of Wichert. John enjoyed collecting toy tractors and model cars and later worked with his son and grandsons in restoring antique vehicles. Surviving is his wife, Lucille, daughter-in-law, Patti of Grant Park, one daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Bob Sikma of St. Anne. Grandchildren include Douglas Wagner, David Wagner, Danielle and Noah Tobias, and Darren and Taylor Wagner. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven, in July of 2025.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the First Reformed Church of Wichert, 7697 E 4500 S Road, St. Anne on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Wybren Oord officiating. A private family burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lansing, IL. Memorials may be made to the First Reformed Church of Wichert.
