John Joseph Walsh

John Joseph “Skip” Walsh, age 65, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. John was a 9 year resident of Dyer, raised his family in Oak Forest and was born and raised in Chicago, IL. Loving husband of Marilyn, nee Mackowiak. Overprotective and loving father of Monica (John) Bosco, Samantha (Dan) DeBias, and Sheila (Dale) West. Proud papa of Natalie, Olivia, and Nicholas. Beloved son of Margaret and the late John Walsh. Dear brother of Marty (Joan), Mike (Karen), Eileen (Jim), Maureen (Jim), Barbara (late Mike), and Coleen (Larry). Brother-in-law of Ray Mackowiak and Jerry Mackowiak. Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews; and wonderful friend to many, many people. Skip worked for Peoples Gas for 33 years and retired at the age of 50, but then continued on with 15 more years of employment and finally retired from NPL in August 2016. Above all, being a husband, dad, and papa were most important to Skip. Visitation Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral service Monday, November 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30 & Pleasant Springs Ln.)
