John Zandstra Jr.

John Zandstra, Jr., age 79, of Beecher, IL, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Dear brother of Darlene (John) Boersma and Joyce Lenting and an uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Zandstra.

John worked in the produce department at Walt’s Food Center for 34 years. He was a lifelong member of Crete Protestant Reformed Church, where he served as an organist for 20 years. John enjoyed spending time outdoors growing vegetables and beautiful flowers. His nieces and nephews have fond memories of him giving them Double Bubble gum and orange Life Savers.

Friends and family may visit with the family on Friday, October 9, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 5:30 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Interment services will be held on Saturday, October 10, at 10:00 a.m. at Skyline Memorial Park Cemetery, Monee, IL.
