Joseph E. Anderson, age 79, of Munster, IN passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016. Beloved husband of Barbara E. Anderson, nee Cooper. Loving father of Kevin (Faith) Anderson, Joseph Scott Anderson, James (fiancée Kristy Allison) Anderson, Margery (Nick) Skopelja, and Katie (Vern) Pfeil. Devoted grandfather of Sarah, Susan, Samantha and Nick Anderson, Ashley Anderson, CJ Govert, Nicole, Stephen Skopelja, Elaine, David, Ava, Stuart, Ruby, Ray, and Leah Pfeil. Great grandchild Violet Diaz. Preceded in death by his son Bobby and his mother Marie. Visitation,Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M.at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Funeral service,Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 10:00 A.M.at Smits Funeral Home. Interment Assumption Cemetery - Glenwood, IL with a luncheon to follow at Glenwood Oaks Restaurant. Joe taught at Purdue North Central for most of his career in the Mechanical Tech Program and retired Professor Emeritus. Earlier in his career he built and sold process plants for instructional use which were sold worldwide. He loved camping with the family, fishing and traveling.
