Joseph W. Reiter, Sr.

Joseph W. Reiter, Sr., age 83, of Dyer, IN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7, 2017. Retired Chicago Police Department (33 years) and US Army Korean War Veteran. Beloved husband of the late Barbara J. Reiter. Devoted father of Michele (Kert) Siemiawski, Joseph (Cheryl) Reiter Jr., Kelly (Rick) Millhouse, and the late Randall Reiter. Proud grandfather of Nicholas, Alex, Jillian, Matthew, and McKenna. Dearest brother of the late Frances Simmons. Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Friend to many. During Joe’s career with CPD, he was a patrolman, detective and worked undercover as a DEA agent. When he returned from the service, Joe got his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying and teaching others to fly. He was an avid Cubs and Blackhawks fan.
