Joyce M. Barick

Joyce M. Barick, nee Yos, age 72, of St. John, IN, went home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.  Beloved wife of David M. Barick. Loving mother of Eric (April) Wasyliw, Randall (Elizabeth) Barick, Steven (Jaime) Barick, and Kevin (Kristen) Barick.  Cherished grandmother of Blake, Connor, Gwyneth, Zofia, Carson, Connor, Jake, Lily, and Violet.  Dear sister of Carolyn Yos, the late Linda Gowan, Diane (James) McGettigan, Jennifer Yos, Tish Yos, the late Raymond Yos, Amanda (William) Spaulding, Sharon (Richard) Pudlewski, Janice (Robert) Wilschke, the late August Yos, late Eleanor Yos, and the late Thomas Yos. Devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews.  Joyce was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Family and friends were everything to Joyce. Whether she was hosting parties or vacationing in Woodsmoke, the Dells, Nashville, or Vegas, Joyce had a knack for planning events that connected family with good food and drink, fun games and activities, and generous gift-giving.  Her summer pool parties and her Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings will always be special memories of a gracious hostess whose love and attention to details made all the difference.

Joyce was loyal to all. To her husband, she was “the wind in his sails.”  For her sons,  she kept their best interests at heart in all of her decisions. To her best friend of 55 years — Karen Stachelski—she was like a sister, sharing both secrets and lots of laughs.  To every single member of her large and extended family, she was an encourager and supporter.

Joyce celebrated every win —whether it was a game of poker or a board game with family and friends, or a win for her beloved Cubbies or Bears.  In Joyce’s earthly life, her biggest win was to live to see grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure. We are comforted knowing that our loss of Joyce is her biggest win yet — to live an eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
