Joyce Fennema, nee Ruiter, age 86, of Dyer, IN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.  Beloved wife of Jerry Fennema. Loving mother of Janet (Jim) Stalman, Judy (Jeff) DeBoer, and Jill (Pete) Dyke.  Cherished grandmother of  Jennifer (Rich) Bultema, Joel (Diana) DeBoer, Joshua (Ashley) DeBoer, Michael Stalman, Sherri (Beau) Harker, Melissa Stalman, Sarah Stalman, Jonathan (Brooke) Dyke, and Stephanie (Alan) Cummings; great-grandmother of 11. Preceded in death by her siblings Dorothy Terpstra, Bill Ruiter, Idelle Gabrielse, Art Ruiter and Dr. Michael Ruiter, and by her parents Thomas and Mentie Ruiter.

Joyce married her high school sweetheart and they raised their children in Lansing, IL. They were members of Munster Christian Reformed Church, where she attended Bible Study. She enjoyed tea time with her neighbors and playing cards with her friends. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. Joyce was loved and will be missed by many.

Visitation Monday, January 2, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN, with Rev. Jim Hollendoner officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to World Vision.
